How to ensure a secure password

May 2nd is World Password Day. This is a good occasion to make you become aware of the importance of a secure password. Data theft, phishing or targeted hacker attacks are nowadays a frequent topic of discussion in the media. The huge data theft of January 2019, in which millions of passwords were distributed worldwide, is perhaps still on your mind.
In order to protect your own user accounts, it is therefore important to take this matter seriously instead of hoping that it will not affect you. So here are a few important tips to help you protect your appJobber user account - and of course your hard-earned money.

password, 123456 or qwert – you've got a bad hand with passwords like these.

These are at the top of the hit list of particularly frequent IT security deficiencies. Hackers have an easy game with passwords like these and can empty your account in a flash or order expensive items at your expense. But even a more complicated password has its pitfalls - if the same password is used for different accounts. If this password falls into the hands of hackers and appears somewhere on the Internet, as with the password leak in January 2019, then all your accounts with the same access data are in danger.

Please consider the following rules:

Use different passwords for different user accounts.

Mix upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters. For example, choose a phrase where you only use certain letters and characters.

Change your password regularly.

The more characters the better. Recommendation: Use the maximum number of characters available to you.

Do not give your password to anyone - not even to your partner.

So, it's best to immediately check all your passwords and change them according to these recommendations. By doing so, you don't have to worry about your user accounts anymore!

How to find our Store-Checks?

Maybe you have already noticed that we offer many Store-Checks all over Europe at the moment. They are just waiting for you to complete them and you can earn some money with them on the go! As we got several messages saying that you can‘t find these jobs, we would like to show how to complete one of our Store-Checks!

That‘s how you find our Store-Checks.

And that's how it works!

The current Store-Checks are scouting jobs. That means, you can do them nearly wherever you are. And that‘s why you can‘t find these jobs on the map but in the scouting job section instead. Therefore you have to select the tab „scouting jobs“. A list of all available scouting jobs in the selected area of the map will appear and you can choose one of them – for example Store-Check "Mini Mix", if there is a "Mini Mix" Market nearby. Please notice, that you can only start a scouting job when you are in the valid range of this job. Read all the tasks and hints and start your job!

Have a try and you‘ll see that we have a lot of work for you. So stop reading and start working with appJobber!

Our new Store Checks are quite easy. Go to a store of your choice of a specific market chain and take overview pictures of the mentioned departments. Best of all: You can decide which branch of that chain you visit. The jobs can thus be comfortably integrated into your everyday life and your routes. Doesn't sound that great? Besides that: In the detailed job help you will find many important hints to get the job done successfully.

Forward-looking Crowdworking

During the past couple of weeks Crowdworking was a popular topic in the media. One of Germany‘s largest TV stations ARD dedicated its this year‘s theme week to the future of work (Link), in coorparation with other german TV stations (HR, SR and Radio Bremen). Of course Crowdworking is also a segment of „the future of work“ and appJobber was asked, how the future of microjobbing could possibly look like.

In an very interesting interview with HR, a german TV station which broadcasts regional news, the chances and risks of Crowdworking were discussed. It has long been recognized that Crowdworking is turning into an expanding and modern phenomenon and that it doesn‘t just open new chances for jobbers, but also for companies. In Germany, as well as in the USA, platforms like appJobber are already firmly established. The community of microjobbers is spread across the country and who is interested in earning additional money in an very flexible way, knows where to find microjobs. The growth of appJobber is based on the commitment of these crowdworkers and we are excited to see the evolution of this new type of work.

Take pictures of a shelf like a Pro. What you need to know

Head-on, in their full height, not slanted, in landscape format, with all products visible, only one product visible... Requirements for pictures of shelves for appJobber can be quite diverse and demanding. These details can sometimes sound exaggerated, but they are needed to be able to extract specific information out of pictures. Let us show you what the perfect shelf-photo should look like and why it's so important.

Background

First we need to take a look behind the scenes and wonder why such images are needed in the first place. There are numerous reasons why companies need a photo of a shelf from a specific supermarket. Often clients want to be able to read the prices of the displayed products or they might want to see how many facings* of a product are on a shelf. Perhaps they would like to get an impression of the product-range available in a specific product category, or they might also want to check how much shelf space one brand takes up. There are many reasons and these are only the most common customer needs. According to each specific need, a precise type of photo is then required.

Overview Photos

If, for example, the client needs an impression of the drinks department, then the job will require an overview photo. In the fruit and vegetable section, for example, you would then need to take one or two photos from different perspectives with which you would give us an overview of the entire department (example picture above). If the client needs pictures of a specific product category, then you must take a picture of every shelf displaying products corresponding to this category. These images can be made oblique, but beware!, you must always take pictures in a way that the products on the shelf are still recognizable. If a single picture is not enough due to the large number of shelves, then please take multiple pictures, so the perspective is not slanted and inaccurate. Clients might for example want to see how the goods are presented in a specific retail chain (loosely on the shelves or in trays?) or which brands belong to the product category.

Shelf Photos

If detailed information is requested on the other hand, then it is important to photograph the shelf head-on from the front and in its full height, so that all existing products are visible. The corridors of the markets may sometimes be quite narrow - a condition which certainly complicates a frontal image - then it is recommended to take separate photos of sections from top to bottom, so that all the information is still legible. This way the photos can still be taken from the front. Ideally the images overlap a little, so that when it is examined, we can see that the photos were taken in the correct order. With such detailed shelf photos, our customers can gain a lot of valuable information: which layouts have price tags on the shelf? Are the products all available or are there gaps shelf (so-called. Out of stock situations)? At what price were the goods offered (so-called. Price detection)? Are advertising material, promotions or special packages available (so-called. POP material)? How much space on a shelf is a particular brand allocated and what brand is next (so-called. Share of shelf)?

appJobber has always been active internationally, first in German-speaking countries, then in Italy, France, UK and Portugal, now - with a new awesome project – we are expanding our jobs in a further 25 European countries. Just in time for holidays our jobber now have the chance to do over 1000 jobs abroad.

Travel enthusiasts, exchange students, visitors and residence will find Scouting Jobs in 35 countries, to complete the task they'll have to seek out the requested supermarket or drug store and take some photos from the inside and outside of the store. The best thing: it is up to the jobbers in which city and in which branch they want to do the job.

Where can you do the Jobs?
The international store-check can be done in over 1000 supermarket and drug store in the following 35 European countries:

There is something for every taste and almost every travel destination. When you consider that since May 2016, the roaming fees abroad have been lowered due to an EU directive (read here) Your Almost simply spoiled for choice.

How Does it Work?
Travelers will find the search job “Storecheck” in the app on the top right corner in all the countries listed above. The job description will tell you which drugstore or supermarket chain needs to be photographed. Now the jobbers can visit a branch of their choice in this chain and complete the required tasks. The completed job can then immediately, or later in the hotel or Internet café, be uploaded. But note: per chain there is only one job, its first come first serve!

Gathering Opening hours informations but why?

There is currently more than a thousand testing jobs in Austria. Any appJobber could state the opening hours of any kind of shop that is located on a specified address. In order to complete the job, you need to take pictures of both opening hours and main entrance of the shop. It's a easy job to get a fair reward. But why do we need these data? Because these data provide us relevant informations that we can use for example for directories.

It could be possible that some stores, like bakeries, at the given location are already placed on a map per pin marker. This is the typical well known drop-symbol that can be found nowadays on about every map. These selected locations are also called POI, Point of Interest. Many companies are in need of those gathered informations about such locations as they are essential, for example, for Geo-navigation systems or directories.

So companies are really keen on looking for such informations as it can enhance their POI. Furthermore, thanks to the Geo-tracking technology of the appJobber app, while a Jobber is completing a job, the retailers can get the exact store's position and coordinates. Therefore any user of the phone book or a map, whether it's online or on a navigation device, can benefit from up-to-date informations and no one will ever again face a closed bakery.

The New Route tips: Discover Lausanne with AppJobber

A Jobber once described us as: “An easy way to discover new places in your area and earn some extra pocket-money in return”. In this sense, the AppJobber app is more than just a useful tool to earn a little money. AppJobber also gives us the possibility to experience the city in which we live from a new perspective to take new stops on our walks, to discover new places and to meet new friends along the way.

The smallest town in Switzerland is charming and truly enchanting, with french flair and a touch of southern panache. With 7 jobs in a single kilometre radious Lausanne is among the top 5 AppJobber cities in Switzerland. Located right on the shore of Lake Geneva, with a fabulous view of the sub- alpine mountain range, the city is perfect for a wonderfully relaxing weekend destination.

There are a few things you just have to do when you are in Lausanne! Number one on that list is to take in the unbelievably beautiful view of Lake Geneva and the snow covered mountain peaks from the cathedral’s tower. Secondly, you cannot go to Lausanne without drinking a hot chocolate in La Barbare it is infamous. The sweet café is close to the cathedral at the Escaliers du Marché, from where you can enjoy the quaint view of the medieval city. While enjoying a cup of liquid gold, there is a little time to register as a survey participant and earn your first 4,50 CHF.

After two street name checks for 2,40 CHF and a nice walk through the small streets of the historic town centre, its time for lunch. Maybe you'll stumble upon a newly opened restaurant? For each new restaurant you'll get 2 CHF and possibly discover a lausannian speciality.

The 'Lausanne Guesthouse' offers dorm rooms for €35 pp but for those of us that are not lovers of the hostelkulture the delightful 'le Raisin' Hotel for €70 pp is a great alternative.

Before you get a good nights sleep, there is nothing better than an evening stroll to inspire sweet dreams. In the dark you might find some broken neon lights to report for 4 CHF each.

Lausanne gets a definite bonus from AppJobber staff for its free WiFi in the city and the Port of Ouchy, making it a great place for an AJ adventure.
